Our Vision

Nothing inside our body is wholly independent. Everything connects to something. You remember the song; the foot bone's connected to the...everything!

Sometimes the problem really is point-specific, as with an injury. But even in that case a medical health practitioner needs to hypothesize as to why the injury took place in the way that it did; what lead to those specific tissues in that specific range being challenged enough that when put under pressure they couldn't adapt? What were they already dealing with?

Much more so in the case of pain or inhibition with a more elusive or chronic cause, we tend to find the best results come from addressing fundamental issues at the core of the body and working our way back out to the problem. We find the health, what is stable, and then ask what that health is budding up against. An ideal treatment would result in the perceived problem or symptoms mostly abating by the time the practitioner even reaches them. If a patient realizes their problem is resolving during treatment, gives us wide eyes and says, "But you didn't even touch my [symptomatic area].", we're happy health workers.

We are sympathetic. We are understanding. We care. We are going to do our very best to help you within the confines of our scope of practice. The best thing we can do for you is to focus on maintaining/restoring balance and symmetry on a large scale within the body and work off of the most solid foundation we can help you achieve. When something is swollen, hot, irritated and red, there is only so much that can be done for that area in the moment. Trying to understand why that is happening absolutely must be our first goal; not only for faster results, but for you to get back to your busy life of playing with the dog, picking up your kids, and helping your neighbour shovel that dreadful driveway. As inconvenient as it may feel while you're suffering, we promise there's a method to our madness. Plus, you'll learn so much about your own body! What we find might surprise you. In fact, it very likely will. That's good! Discovery is our favourite part!

We want to help you heal. Let us try!

Hi, I’m Emily!
I've always enjoyed helping people and I love animals. This first drew me to a career as a Veterinary Technician. It's extremely rewarding helping the pets and seeing the difference that makes in people's lives. But it's also very hard work filled with long days, difficult cases and hard physical labour. After 10 years I knew that it was time for a change.

I have always been interested in different health care for modalities. Having suffered a back injury at 13 years old which left me with permanent damage; then dealing with joint pain from Rheumatoid Arthritis, I had tried every possible therapy over the years. I knew something in this field would be my next career, but couldn't quite find "the one".

Then one day when I walked into my acupuncturist's office limping on a sore knee but I walked out normally, I knew I had found it! I enrolled in college 5 months later and am so happy I did!

After graduating with an Acupuncture Diploma in 2016 I continued studying for another 6 months to write, and pass, the Pan Canadian Acupuncture exam. This is not a requirement to practice acupuncture in Nova Scotia, but is in many other provinces where acupuncture is under government regulation. I am a member of the Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia (ATCMANS) where I currently serve as the Administrative Assistant.
I am also a member of the College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners of Newfoundland and Labrador (CATCMPNL). I am honoured to have been voted Halifax’s favourite acupuncturist in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

While acupuncture can help almost any condition, the main focus of my practice is helping people control chronic pain and to heal from injuries. Since practicing I've also found a love of helping anxious, stressed, burnt-out people regain their sense of balance; as well as helping women deal with hot flashes, anxiety and insomnia during menopause or peri-menopause. It's so rewarding to be able to help people manage these types of conditions that make them feel like they will never improve.

If you're feeling like you're stuck living the way you are now, that nothing has worked yet so you've stopped trying, I look forward to helping you move past this and get back to feeling like yourself again.

Meet Mase Keeping (they/them);

Originally from the west coast of Newfoundland, Mase first      moved to the HRM in 2012 to attend the 2200hr Massage Therapy program at CCMH (along with Darya), and they've happily made Nova Scotia their home for the past 10+ years.
Since beginning their career as an RMT, Mase has developed
a very fluid style of treatment, mostly focusing on the therapeutic side while often incorporating techniques which can help any body feel relaxed while in their hands.

Mase has a deep interest in helping folks who deal with chronic, "annoying" and (most often) posture-related aches and pain by relieving muscle tension, decreasing nervous system firing and educating clients how to further maintain their pain with self-care, which may help the benefits of massage last even longer.

With a special interest in the Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) and a personal history of concussions, Mase has had plenty of experience in helping those who experience TMJ-Dysfunction, including commonly related symptoms of whiplash, neck pain and stiffness, as well as headaches and/or migraines. From sports massage to deep tissue, injury recovery to gender-based discomforts and overall de-stressing, Mase thrives on helping you feel better. And as a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, you can be sure to feel comfortable and safe within their treatment space.

You can now book with Mase on Tuesdays between 12:30-7:30, and occasional Fridays.
Feel free to email them at [email protected] with any massage-related questions or concerns.
They hope to meet and treat you soon!

Darya Zuychenko is a Registered Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, Registered Acupuncturist, Registered Massage Therapist, and Reiki Master, working in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She is a member of the Nova Scotia Association of Osteopaths (NSAO), the Massage Therapist’s Association of Nova Scotia (MTANS) and the Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia (ATCMANS).

Darya has been practicing massage therapy since 2014. Upon graduation from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy (CCMH), she was the recipient of the annual award from the Massage Therapist’s and Wholistic Practitioner’s Association of the Maritimes for displaying a practice based on an all encompassing wholistic approach for the care and treatment of her patients. Several months prior to her graduation, she completed her extra studies and became a Reiki Master Teacher in the Usui style of Reiki, incorporating the therapy into her practice, aiming to balance and connect deeply rooted energetic disorders with their physical counterparts.

During her time at CCMH, Darya was becoming more interested in the treatment of internal conditions, which led to her application and acceptance to the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine to advance her studies in acupuncture. In 2016, Darya graduated as an acupuncturist from CCATCM, and began treating with these modalities. She loves working in a tight-knit health community, and with prolonged exposure and success with local osteopaths, she decided to enrol into the Collège d’Études Ostéopathiques to continue her education to become an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner.  In 2023, Darya once again enrolled into a program, this time in the field of Somatic Experiencing and Practice, and hopes to graduate and offer this service in late 2025.

In the few rare moments that Darya is not studying, she spends a great deal of time training with the aerialist dance and circus communities, building strength and focus through fitness and flexibility. Darya believes that everything is connected, both in life and body, and with her gentle and careful approach, she is thrilled to help you alter your current dysfunctions to inspire a beautiful, healthy future.

Please note, as a member of the NSAO, she is not an Osteopathic Physician, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO, formerly Doctor of Osteopathy), nor does she practice Osteopathic Medicine. In Nova Scotia, Osteopathic Manual Practice is not regulated by the government, however the NSAO is actively seeking government regulation to protect the public and our profession. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners are not members of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
